BANGKOK Thailand : — His Majesty the King has fever but blood pressure has returned to normal and he can drink some water, said the Royal Household Bureau regarding the King’s latest health condition.
In the 16th announcement on Sunday, the bureau said that HM the King’s condition has steadily improved after he was admitted to Siriraj hospital on September 3 for treatment of right lung inflammation from bacterial infection.
However, on Saturday, HM the King had fever and the level of oxygen in the blood dropped and pulse rate slightly increased although blood pressure was normal, said the bureau.
Blood tests showed infection and X-ray confirmed inflammation of the left lung. Cultures of the saliva from the air tube on September 3 showed several bacterial strains. The cause of lung inflammation was believed to come from aspirated pneumonitis.
Doctors have administered anti-biotics and food intravenously. Oxygen was also administered to maintain normal level of oxygen in the blood along with physical rehabilitation to force out saliva, according to the Royal Household Bureau.’
